Privacy Policy

We built Swiss Wall because we love skiing — not because we wanted to collect your data. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

The short version: We collect the minimum data needed to make the app work. We never sell your data. Your GPS tracks stay private unless you choose to share them.

1. Who We Are

Swiss Wall is developed and operated by Swiss Wall ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at hello@swisswall.app with any questions about this policy.

2. What We Collect and Why

A) If You Use the App Without an Account

  • ·All your GPS tracking data stays entirely on your device.
  • ·We do not transmit any personal data to our servers.
  • ·We may collect anonymous, non-identifiable crash reports to help us fix bugs.

B) If You Create a Swiss Wall Account

When you register, we collect:

  • ·Name and email address — to identify your account and communicate with you.
  • ·Profile photo (optional) — shown to your friends in the app.
  • ·GPS and location data — recorded when you start a run. This data is encrypted and stored on our servers to enable sync, run history, and friends features.
  • ·Device information — your device type and OS version, used for debugging and improving the app.
  • ·Usage data — anonymous events like "started a recording" to help us understand how the app is used.

C) Location and GPS Data

  • ·Your real-time location is recorded locally on your device.
  • ·If signed in, your location data is securely uploaded to enable sync, run history, and live location sharing with friends.
  • ·Live location sharing is off by default. You must explicitly turn it on.
  • ·When you turn off live sharing, your real-time location is immediately removed from our servers.
  • ·After 48 hours, any live location data is permanently deleted from our servers.

D) Friends and Social Features

  • ·Your friends can see your name, profile photo, and aggregated ski stats for the current season.
  • ·They cannot see your individual GPS tracks unless you explicitly share a specific run.
  • ·If live location sharing is enabled, friends at the same resort can see your real-time position on the trail map.

3. What We Do NOT Do

  • ·We never sell your personal data or GPS tracks to anyone.
  • ·We never share your data with advertisers.
  • ·We never use your data to profile you for third-party marketing.
  • ·We never upload any Apple Health or Google Fit data to our servers.

4. Third-Party Services

To operate Swiss Wall, we work with a small number of trusted providers:

  • ·Cloud storage providers (e.g. AWS, Supabase) — to store your account data and run recordings securely.
  • ·Crash reporting tools — anonymous crash logs only. No personal data or GPS tracks.
  • ·Analytics tools — anonymous, aggregated usage data only. No personal identifiers.
  • ·Email providers — to send account-related emails.

We do not integrate Facebook, TikTok, or any advertising SDKs.

5. Data Security

  • ·All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS.
  • ·Your GPS data and account information are stored separately to reduce risk.
  • ·Access to your data within our team is limited to what is strictly necessary.

No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a security breach that affects your data, we will notify you promptly.

6. Data Retention

  • ·Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
  • ·If you delete your account, all your data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • ·Live location data is deleted from our servers within 48 hours of recording.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • ·Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • ·Correct inaccurate data.
  • ·Delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account.
  • ·Export a copy of your run data.
  • ·Opt out of non-essential communications at any time.

8. Children

Swiss Wall is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at hello@swisswall.app and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notification.
